I have been dying to take this family’s pictures and I’m so glad we finally made it happen! Michelle is my sister-in-law’s sister…. so I’m not sure what that makes us but I do know that she’s pretty great. Her two boys, Benson and Banks were the most well behaved little kids I think I have ever had at a session. They were a dream! Thanks again for having me Anderson family!

Welch Family + Fall Mini Session
Kjirstyn is my husband’s cousin and she is so great! I was beyond flattered when her and her gorgeous family drove all the way from Idaho Falls just to take family photos with me. I mean, who does that? I love them for it! Their session went so well and I had a great time with their sweet kids! Kjirstyn is a smart mom and waited to dress her little boy until they got to the location. He hops out of the car, freshly dressed, and trips face first in the dirty parking lot right on a grease spot! It was just so typical of life as a mom I had to laugh. I swear you can do all the planning and preparation you want for family photos and kids will find some way to try and mess it up! That’s why my best advice to parents on picture day is to just roll with whatever comes their way. Thanks again Welch family! Love ya!
Hancey Family + Brighton
The summer after my husband John and I got married, he felt that doing summer sales was the right thing for us. Neither of us were too sure about it, but we packed up and drove to Arkansas anyway. It was not a very successful summer as far as sales went, but we met wonderful people! John still says to this day, the only reason we were supposed to go was to meet Nick and Lauren. Actually, we all lived in Logan, Utah at the time but didn’t meet until we were in Arkansas where Nick and Lauren were also doing summer sales. That has always seemed so funny to me. We love anytime we get to hang out with them! While we were at their house on Sunday for dinner, Lauren saw their family photos for the first time. I have never been with a client/friend to see their first reaction when they open their photo gallery, and it was so fun! She was so excited (her enthusiastic reactions are actually one of my favorite things about her)! Anyways, we love the Hancey’s and I’m so grateful they asked me to take their family photos. I love how they turned out!
Jensen Family + Desert Session
Jeremiah is my second cousin and our families used to go camping together when I was younger. Not sure why we stopped because it was always so fun! It’s exciting when everyone starts their own families, but the downside is that it gets so big we gradually stop seeing our extended family as often. I was excited when his wife Melissa contacted me about a family session because it gave me a chance to catch up with them and to see their kids. I can’t believe how old they are! They look so grown up. Jeremiah picked out this location and it was perfect! He had gone here growing up and I’m so glad he suggested it. Basically they made my job super easy and I love the results!
Walker Family + Big Cottonwood Canyon
I sat down to edit a sneak peek of this session and ended up finishing the entire thing! This family is just too gorgeous, I couldn’t make myself stop. Val and I know each other from design school and I love each time I get to see her and her family. Their sweet Gavin is growing so fast! He looked like such a little man in his outfit. He has grown so much since their session last year (see it here). Gav definitely has a future in modeling if he wants it. He had so much fun exploring, running, and was mesmerized by the river nearby. Hopefully we wore him out and he slept like an angel that night.
This beautiful family has an exciting announcement and they let me in on their secret a little early….
Streeter Family + Neff’s Canyon
I was lucky enough to photograph Elena and her adorable kids last year (see that session here). Her husband was deployed and she wanted updated family pictures to send to him. They are so sweet! I loved being able to see them again and their daddy got to join them this time! Yay! Kids grow and change so quickly… it’s fun to see them each year.
The simple things
Bought a bubble machine today. It was a good choice. I love summer.
Player Family + Desert Session
I can’t believe I haven’t blogged this session before now because it’s a pretty one! I really love the desert tones and think its the perfect backdrop to showcase families. This family was so sweet and I loved watching them interact with each other. They were so kind and loving. We did their family photos as part of their extended family session with Kirk’s side of the family. I was blown away by how cooperative all the kids were. Seriously, they won my heart. They were so sweet and too cute for their own good. Wait until you see their little boy… I met him once and I love him! Their girls were glowing from the inside out and I could tell they have beautiful little souls. The shots of them dancing in the desert feel so carefree and make my heart happy.
Petersen Family + Cleveland, UT
I absolutely love when I get to photograph people from my home town! Cleveland is tiny, and off the beaten path and it will always have my heart. Brooke also grew up in Cleveland, moved away for a bit, and now she and her gorgeous family moved back and built a beautiful home together. I hope to move my own family back there someday. Brooke is so easy to work with and the whole family made this session fun and easy! Their oldest will be leaving on an LDS mission to Arkansas soon and he is pretty excited (his mom isn’t talking about it). I loved documenting their family dynamic how it is right now. It will be so fun for them to look back on when things have changed and the little ones have grown. Thanks Petersen family and good luck on your mission Brans!
I visit Emery County often, so if you are interested in booking a session don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions you have!
Desert Family Session + Player-Timmons Family
Desert family sessions are one of my favs for sure! The kids love them too because afterwards they have a blast climbing all the rocks! This location is so close to where I grew up and we still spend time here for picnics and Easter camping.
Shannon was a good friend of my mom’s; they bonded over their mutual love of yarn and crocheting. Anyone that had a place in my mom’s heart, has a place in mine. Shannon hand-dyes and spins her own yarn and she is so talented! You can check out her gorgeous creations here. Thanks for giving me the chance to capture your beautiful family. I love this session!
